After having visited the Grand Canyon, we decided to immediately follow up with that other famous canyon, Bryce Canyon. Both are similarly popular, and hence similarly crowded, making it sometimes difficult to find an empty space on a parking lot. But once that problem is resolved, there is so much scenery that everyone gets plenty of opportunity to enjoy the spectacular landscape. Compared to the Grand Canyon, here the viewer is much closer to the cliff faces, and these are also much more jagged. In combination, we found Bryce clearly superior in viewing quality to the Grand Canyon. An added value of Bryce is that on the extensive area surrounding the parking lots, birds are so used to tourists that I could spend part of my time photographing them at rather close range.
