Natural History Photographs

After the successful first day travelling from Las Vegas to Kanab, this was the first day from our temporary basis. We decided on a tour to Lake Powell, to explore the environment. There are few exits from the highway, this was the first straightforward option to stop. After the huge Swallotail Papilio multicaudatus this morning in Kanab, here we found one of the smallest butterflies in the world, and certainly the smallest in the states: the Western pigmy blue, Brephidium exilis. It offered a good exercise in insect photography, but the site wasn't too rich so we didn't stay long here.
