The taxonomy of the genus Himantoglossum is complicated, and various taxa have been described which may be statistically separable, but which makes identifying individual plants a nightmare; see e.g. Bateman, Molnár & Sramkó, 2017. The identification of these plants as caprinum is based on the deeply divided middle lip of the labellum. |
