Situated in the South-East of Iceland, the huge Vatnajökull (Vatna glacier) has a series of outlets. One of these, Breiðamerkurjökull, ends in a glacial lake before discharging the melt water into the Atlantic Ocean. Floating in the lake are many icebergs, making spectacular views. The area is full of Arctic terns, which have a breeding colony near the lake. When we visited the lake, the young terns just were leaving their nests, but they will still being fed by the parents.
