Galls of Lasioptera eryngii in leaf stalk of Eryngium spec.
Kastraki (Thessaly), Greece; 8 July 2017.

Inside the gall, a fungus is growing which is the food of the larvae. This thus is an example of a tripartite symbiosis. Pupal skins are protruding from the gall, and small round marks may be preprepared exit openings.
