The village we stayed at during this holiday was Ville sur Sarre, an unassuming hamlet cuddled against the steep slopes of the Alps. Apart from farming, the only economic activity seems to be renting out of holiday houses. To buy food, we needed to go down the mountain slope to the valley for half an hour by car; near Aosta we found a well-supplied super market. At the day of our arrival, a huge scolid wasp crawled around in a tiny lawn, probably searching for beetle larvae to put an egg on. It was the only individual I saw.
