Through the landscape, one can see basalt-like 'channels' running over long distances. These formed when lava intruded already formed rock layers. The basalt-like layers erode somewhat slower than the surrounding rock, making these layers stand out in the landscape. Anaga (Tenerife), Spain; 3 January 2017. |
