According to the natural history guide, a truly weird tree could be found near Skopelos. The tree once germinated in a manmade water channel, and it roots follow the water channel to give rise to the tree in the middle of the construction. We found the tree without too much trouble (despite wrong directions in the guide), and indeed it's a strange view to see a tree sprout from the middle of a wall. But the whole construction obviously was restaurated not too long ago, which makes it hard to interpret how this tree ended up in the wall. |
