Alledgedly, Roldán was cornered here by the pursuing Muslim Saracens, but escaped by jumping on horseback from one of the crags to the other. That would have been a momentous leap indeed... We were not such daredevils, and it took all our courage to just climb to the one crag, via a steep ladder and finally climbing over a few overhanging handles hammered into the rock. The large yellow umbellifer Thapsia villosa attracted many insects, among others various emerald wasps and the spectacular feather-legged fly. |
