| After having found the horseshoe orchid the previous day, I could focus on some secondary targets. One of these was the 'Wrinkle-leaved' tulip, or Eichler's tulip. According to the natural history guide, this tulip can only be found in a single pine forest, so we went there. As always, we had to puzzle a lot on the route description, going through a village badly harmed by a fairly recent earthquake. But once we were in the forest, we found the tulips soon enough. Sadly though, it was too early for their flowers - but their wavy leaves are pretty distinctive! |
