For our lunch break we chose a beatiful and quiet spot - we thought. Within a short time, however, children
appeared from who knows where. Apparently, they never had seen someone from outside their own neighborhood,
making it very attractive to watch us - much like we watch monkeys in the zoo. When the old man at last
understood we were not overjoyed by this unashamed interest, he threw stones to the children to encourage
them going elsewhere - a pedagogical device nowadays no longer fashionable in The Netherlands...
