South coast of Lake Acigöl
11 & 12 June 2012

Lake Acigöl ("the bitter lake" in Turkish) is notable for its sodium sulfate which is commercially won. The vegetation just south of the lake is clearly halophile, with plants like Salicornia and Limonium. A very characteristic plant is Wormwood, an Artemisia species, perhaps maritima, with its strong fragrant scent.
