Anaga: Valle Brosque
3 January 2017

From the Casa Forestal along TF-12 running over the spine of the Anaga peninsula, a well-marked trail leads down to Valle Brosque. Initially, the path leads through laurel forest, but this oon enough gives way to heather dominated Fayal-Brezal. Further down, the heathers are absent and the vegetation becomes generally less tall and more sparse. The vegetation at places looks rather disturbed, but this is rather local. The steep ecological gradient results from the clouds that bring so much water to the laurel forests, rapidly evaporate in the descending air flow once they are blown over the mountain ridge.
