Grand Canyon: northern rim
8 August 2017

One of the must-see highlights near Kanab is the Grand Canyon, in northern Arizona. The full experience would entail a strenuous hike, possibly walking on a quite crowded trail, access to which may have to be booked well in advance. Neither of these qualities is very attractive to me, so we opted for the easy way: driving to the overview area and then making a leisurely stroll along the rim. The real grandeur of the canyon is difficult to appreciate this way, but there's enough plant and animal life to be seen to enjoy this easy way of visiting the canyon. This also applies to the route through the park toward the canyon. For instance, close behind the entrance into the park, we were surprised by a herd of buffalo!
