Valle d'Aosta, Italy
Monte Bianco
2 August 2018
Today we visited the Mont Blanc, in the far west of the Valle d'Aosta. From the most western town of the valley, Entrève, the 'skyway' cable brings one in no-time to 3500 m altitude. But while the landscape at this height is impressive, for finding plants etc. this is not such a promising place. Luckily, there is a stop halfway at ca. 2200 m, where a rich alpine vegetation is easily reached. I saw one of the truly alpine butterflies, Erebia pluto, but regrettably they didn't cooperate when it came to photographing them.
