This was the first year of the corona pandemic, and traveling was severely restricted. End of June the restrictions were somewhat relaxed, and I could finally book a last-minute trip; I chose NW Central Greece, north and south of Ioannina. The timing wasn't optimal for plants, quite late in the season. Once we were moving around, we noticed that many streams had dried up - but still this was to be preferred over going nowhere! Our home bases were the villages Syrracco and Ano Pedina. In the past, the inaccessible area was opened up by stone bridges, many of which still function. During this trip, we went to see several of them, giving us a compass for our daily trips. |
